Golf Day Raises £13,000 for Children's Charity

Local businesses united for a day of golf, networking, and generosity at the recent Over The Wall Camp Golf Day, held at Breadsall Priory Golf and Country Club. The annual event raised more than £13,000 to support the charity's work providing residential camps for children and young people living with serious health challenges, as well as their families.

Event Details and Participants

Twenty teams representing local businesses, suppliers, and charity supporters swapped their day jobs for the fairways, participating in a shotgun-start, 18-hole round of golf on the championship Priory course. The day concluded with a two-course lunch, raffle, and an update from Over The Wall Camp’s chief executive, Kevin Mathieson, who shared exciting plans for the charity’s new forever home in Ockbrook, Derbyshire.

Business Support and Testimonials

Spencer Warren, managing director of Heatons, expressed delight in participating: “We are proud to support the charity and help raise vital funds for its work with children and young people living with health challenges and disabilities. The event was exceptionally well organised, offering participants an enjoyable day on a challenging course. It also provided a valuable opportunity to connect with businesses while supporting an important cause. We are already looking forward to taking part again next year.”

Professor John Read, CEO and founder of Bentley Bitumen and BituCore, urged other businesses to get involved: “At Bentley Bitumen, we were absolutely delighted to support Over The Wall Camp’s regional golf day; a thoroughly enjoyable event that gave us the fantastic opportunity to network with other regional companies. We loved hearing directly from the charity about their ambitious plans for a new home in Derbyshire. It is a truly worthy cause and as a business, we look forward to supporting the event again next time around. I strongly urge other businesses to consider taking part or sponsoring the next Over The Wall Camp event as well.”

Impact and Gratitude

Sophie Parkins, senior regional development manager, extended heartfelt thanks: “The money raised could fund eight children to attend one of our life-changing residential camps and rediscover the magic and mischief of childhood, help raise their self-confidence and learn resilience, make new friends, and create lifelong memories. Everyone was extremely generous on the day, and we are grateful to all the participants, lunch guests, event sponsors and prize donors. A special thanks goes to our headline sponsor EHKO Ltd, competitions sponsor Black Bulls Head (Openwoodgate), refreshments sponsor Colliers Gives, print sponsor Melbourne Print and photography sponsor Laurenti Photography.”
