Festive Shopping with a Purpose Launches in Hinckley
A homelessness charity in Leicestershire has unveiled its most expansive seasonal offering to date, creating a magical destination for festive shoppers. Emmaus Leicestershire and Rutland has officially launched its popular Christmas shop, situated within the Emmaus Emporium on Stockwell Head, Hinckley. This year's dedicated festive space is notably larger than in previous years, boasting a significantly increased stock of pre-loved items.
A Treasure Trove of Pre-Loved Festive Finds
Shoppers can discover a wide array of second-hand Christmas goods, all looking for a new home. The selection includes everything needed to create a festive atmosphere:
- Christmas trees and wreaths
- A vast assortment of baubles, tinsel, and ornaments
- Festive homeware and wall decorations
- Christmas jumpers and other seasonal clothing
- Unique gift ideas
Dawn Wright, director of Emmaus Leicestershire and Rutland, expressed her amazement at the community's generosity. "When we started unpacking the Christmas stock this year, we were overwhelmed by how much we had!" she said. "Our supporters have been incredibly generous, and it’s turned into a real treasure trove of festive finds."
Community and Corporate Support Drives Initiative
The successful set-up of the enchanting shop was made possible with crucial volunteer support. A team from the Coventry Building Society’s risk management department once again lent their time and effort. These volunteers assisted with the substantial task of unpacking countless boxes of donated Christmas stock, decorating trees, and arranging displays to prepare for the opening day.
Every single purchase made from the Christmas shop directly funds Emmaus Leicestershire and Rutland's ongoing work. This work is dedicated to supporting individuals who have experienced homelessness, providing them with a stable home and meaningful work opportunities.
The shop is described as a "magical space, tucked away towards the back of the Emporium." To help visitors find it, clear signage has been installed, or you can simply follow the sound of Christmas music to discover this secret festive room. The Emmaus Emporium’s Christmas Shop is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, until December 23.
