Moya Cole Hospice Introduces Will Month with Complimentary Legal Assistance

Moya Cole Hospice has announced the launch of Will Month, an initiative taking place throughout May. This program aims to make the process of creating a will more accessible and affordable for the community. During Will Month, a selection of local solicitors will waive their standard fees in exchange for a donation to the hospice.

Personal Experience Highlights the Importance of Wills

Adele Turner, whose partner Amanda received care at Moya Cole Hospice for twelve days in 2023, emphasized the critical role of having a will. Amanda passed away without a will initially, but social workers facilitated one during her transition from hospital to hospice.

Adele Turner shared her perspective: "I have maintained contact with the hospice since Amanda's passing and understand the significant costs involved in its operations. I am always looking for ways to contribute. In 2024, I utilized the Will Month offer, which allowed me to forgo solicitor fees and make a donation instead. The process was remarkably straightforward."

She further explained the practical benefits, noting that nearly every institution she dealt with post-loss, from telephone providers to savings accounts, required a will. "Without it, the administrative tasks would have been considerably more prolonged and challenging," Adele added.

Financial Impact and Hospice Services

Approximately one-third of the hospice's generated income originates from individuals who have included gifts in their wills. While there is no obligation, even a modest contribution, such as 1% of an estate, can substantially support the hospice's mission.

Moya Cole Hospice delivers comprehensive care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, offering inpatient care, day therapy, and outpatient services at locations in Heald Green, Stockport, and Little Hulton, Salford. Additionally, the hospice provides community and outreach services, including a Hospice at Home service in Salford and Trafford, a Community Specialist Palliative Care Team in Salford, and a homelessness palliative care service in Manchester. A 24-hour telephone advice line is available for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals across Salford, Manchester, Trafford, and Stockport.

Will Month serves as a vital opportunity for individuals to secure their future wishes while supporting a crucial local healthcare provider. The initiative underscores the hospice's commitment to easing both personal and financial burdens for the community it serves.
