Queenscourt Hospice Aims to Raise £80,000 in Christmas Challenge
Hospice's £80k Christmas Fundraiser for Home Care

A hospice in Merseyside is launching a vital festive fundraising drive, aiming to raise a significant sum to support patients who wish to spend their final days in the comfort of their own homes.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge

Queenscourt Hospice is once again taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge. The ambitious goal is to raise £80,000 in just one week to fund its essential 'Queenscourt at Home' service.

The campaign, titled 'Home is where the heart is', has a special twist. For one week only, from noon on December 2 to noon on December 9, every single donation made through the hospice's dedicated campaign page will be doubled. This generous match-funding is provided by Pledge Funders, including Leasecar.uk and Angela, alongside Champion Funder, The Reed Foundation.

How Your Donation Makes a Difference

The funds are urgently needed to meet a growing demand for specialist palliative care at home. More and more patients with life-limiting illnesses express a preference to receive care in their familiar surroundings, close to loved ones.

The money raised will allow the Queenscourt at Home team to provide a wide range of free services, including:

  • Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy
  • Specialist breathlessness management courses
  • Home visits for complex symptom control

This specialist support is crucial in helping to manage symptoms and maintain dignity, ensuring patients can remain at home according to their wishes.

A Vital Service for the Local Community

Andrea Parkes, Individual Giving and Legacy Fundraiser at Queenscourt Hospice, shared her enthusiasm for the campaign. "We're excited to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge once again this December and we love this year's campaign, 'Home is where the Heart is'," she said.

"We can all relate to how much more relaxed and comfortable we feel in the familiar surroundings of our own home with friends and family close by, even more so if we are feeling unwell. We are looking to raise £80,000 in just one week so that we can care for more patients at home during their life-limiting illness and at end of life, when this is their preference."

The hospice is urging the public to consider making a donation via the special link, www.queenscourt.org.uk/biggive, during the critical doubling week. Every contribution, no matter the size, will be doubled, making twice the impact for local patients and their families.
