A vital dementia support service in West Yorkshire has received a significant financial boost from a national housebuilding company, enabling it to continue its essential community work.
Substantial Donation for Vital Community Service
The Royal Voluntary Service's Batley Dementia Support Group has been awarded a generous £1,500 donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes. This funding comes through The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which specifically aims to support charities across the United Kingdom and leave a positive legacy in communities where the housebuilder operates.
Creating Safe Spaces for Connection and Support
The Batley Dementia Group provides crucial support for up to twenty-four individuals who either live with dementia themselves or care for loved ones affected by the condition. This dedicated group offers a safe, welcoming environment where attendees can participate in various activities, enjoy social interaction, and connect with others who truly understand the unique challenges associated with dementia.
Regan Hirst, service manager for Royal Voluntary Services Kirklees and Leeds Dementia Services, expressed profound gratitude for the donation, stating: "Receiving the email confirming Batley Dementia Group had been chosen for this donation was wonderful. We rely on charitable donations to run our dementia services, and this support helps us continue providing groups that are a lifeline for many people facing difficult times."
Aligning Values to Strengthen Communities
Gavin Birch, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, explained the company's motivation behind the donation: "As a leading housebuilder, we strive to support the communities in and around the areas in which we build, and we are delighted to offer Royal Voluntary Service and its Batley Dementia Support Group a donation to support the fantastic work it does. The charity's efforts align perfectly with our values to build stronger communities and enable people to live independent, fulfilling lives."
The Royal Voluntary Service operates extensively across Britain, mobilising volunteers to provide practical assistance and emotional support to people in need, often working in close collaboration with healthcare teams and within local communities.
Hirst added on behalf of the group members: "We are delighted to have been selected and are incredibly grateful that this funding will help us keep people affected by dementia active, engaged and connected within the local Batley community. On behalf of our group members, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for choosing our dementia support group to give such a generous donation. It truly means the world to all of us."
