Predator Jailed for 15 Years After Teen's Clever Pizza Order SOS

A sexual predator who groomed a vulnerable teenager online has been sentenced to more than 15 years in prison after his quick-thinking victim raised the alarm by calling police while pretending to order a pizza.

Online Grooming and Brutal Attack

Abdul Kahar, 41, who prosecutors described as having a deep-seated sexual attraction to young and underage girls, initially contacted the 15-year-old victim on Snapchat last June. The father-of-one posed as a 17-year-old boy called 'Jay' during the grooming process, which included:

  • Asking for naked pictures of the girl
  • Questioning whether she had ever had sex
  • Inquiring if she would do anything for money
  • Persuading her to meet for a drink and a chill

When they met in Druids Heath, Kahar picked up the girl in his vehicle and plied her with vodka to the point where she was sick twice. He then subjected her to a prolonged attack that included rape, sexual assault, and non-fatal intentional strangulation.

Quick-Thinking Victim's Clever Ruse

Following the assault, the teenager remembered a TikTok video she had seen where another sexual assault victim had contacted police by pretending to order pizza. While still sitting in Kahar's vehicle, she made a call to the police control centre and asked to order a pizza.

The alert call-handler recognised this as a potential distress signal and asked yes-or-no questions to establish what was happening. When asked if she was in danger, the girl replied yeah, and was able to provide officers with her exact location, leading to Kahar's arrest on June 28 last year.

Court Sentencing and Victim's Vulnerability

At Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, February 9, Kahar pleaded guilty to multiple charges including:

  1. Two counts of raping a female under 16
  2. Four counts of sexually assaulting a female over 13
  3. Non-fatal intentional strangulation
  4. Breach of a sexual harm prevention order

Judge Sarah Buckingham sentenced him to 15 years and three months in prison, telling him: You were well over twice her age. You are a sexual predator with a deep-seated sexual attraction to young and underage girls. It would have been obvious to you she was particularly vulnerable and at risk of exploitation.

The court heard that the victim, now 16, lived in a children's home and was in the care of the local authority, making her particularly vulnerable to exploitation.

Police Praise for Victim and Call Handler

Detective Constable Lauren Campbell of West Midlands Police praised both the victim's bravery and the call handler's professionalism: I want to praise the brave actions of the girl and also praise the call handler for having the foresight to understand this was a call for help from someone who was vulnerable and in danger.

The defence barrister, Ben Hargreaves, acknowledged the impact on Kahar's family, stating: It is always the family of the defendant who will suffer the most. He has an eight-year-old and a wife who are dumbfounded by his behaviour.

This case highlights both the dangers of online grooming and the importance of creative thinking in emergency situations, with the victim's quick-witted response leading directly to her attacker's conviction and lengthy prison sentence.
