Miller Homes Donates £1,000 to Boost Men's Mental Health in St Helens
Housebuilder funds men's wellbeing sessions in St Helens

A leading housebuilder on Merseyside has stepped in to bolster crucial support for men's mental health and wellbeing in the St Helens area. Miller Homes has awarded a £1,000 grant to the Apex Charitable Trust as part of the first round of its Community Fund for 2026.

Funding Vital Community Support

The donation is earmarked to directly aid the charity's work with adults across the borough. Established in 1996, Apex provides tailored assistance to individuals confronting various challenges, from mental health struggles and social isolation to obstacles in finding employment or training.

This new injection of funds will specifically bolster several key services, including social groups, a dedicated women's hub, Young at Heart gatherings, and, notably, men's wellbeing sessions held every Tuesday.

A Safe Space for Men to Connect

These Tuesday sessions offer a secure and supportive environment where men can access peer support, practical advice, and professional guidance. The funding from Miller Homes will enable Apex to enhance these meetings further by bringing in specialist wellbeing professionals. This move aims to improve the quality of support and widen access for those most in need within the community.

Kim Hughes, Chief Executive of Apex, emphasised the impact of the donation: "Support like this from the Miller Homes Community Fund makes a real difference to the men who attend our Tuesday wellbeing sessions. This funding will allow us to strengthen those sessions and ensure more men in St Helens can access the support they need."

A Lasting Commitment to the North West

Miller Homes operates its Community Fund to forge strong links with the neighbourhoods surrounding its developments. The initiative backs organisations that create a sustained, positive impact where its teams live and work.

Clare Noakes, Sales Director for Miller Homes in the North West, stated: "We are proud to support initiatives like the Tuesday men’s sessions, which offer meaningful, preventative support and help people feel more connected within their community."

The housebuilder's commitment to the region is substantial. Since its launch in 2022, the Community Fund has donated over £344,000 to community groups and charities across the North West. These contributions have supported a wide array of projects focused on wellbeing, inclusion, education, and grassroots support.

This first round of 2026 funding continues that pledge, with further donations scheduled to be announced later in the year.
