Hull's first city-wide 10km community run and family fun day will take place on Sunday, July 12, at East Park, raising vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The event, championed by local Hull Kingston Rovers supporter Craig Eskrett, who was diagnosed with MND in 2023, aims to bring together people across East Yorkshire to support those living with the condition.
Event Details and Participation
The main 10km running challenge will start at 10am, with all finishers receiving a special medal. While tickets for the run are completely sold out, organisers encourage everyone to attend and spectate for free. Visitors can enjoy family entertainment until 4pm, including live music, food stalls, games, and a bouncy castle.
Community and Club Support
Community foundations from both Hull KR and Hull FC will deliver a variety of activities during the afternoon. The event has received major backing from Hull City Council and the MND Association. Eskrett hopes the challenge will become an annual fixture for the city.
Fundraising and Donations
All money raised will go directly toward funding research and supporting local services across the region. People can support the cause by making a donation online via the team's official fundraising page at www.justgiving.com/team/craigeskrettsrunformnd. Full event details are available on Eventbrite at www.eventbrite.com.
Grassroots Momentum
The momentum for the event follows incredible grassroots efforts by local friends who have previously completed marathons across Europe. According to organisers, the event is free to attend and spectate, with no cost for visitors.
