Journeo Employees Embark on Epic Three Peaks Challenge By Rail for Railway Children
Four dedicated employees from Ashby-de-la-Zouch-based transport technology and infrastructure company Journeo are preparing to undertake the iconic UK Three Peaks Challenge By Rail on June 25, 2026. Their ambitious goal is to raise thousands of pounds for the vital charity Railway Children, which focuses on protecting vulnerable young people across transport networks.
An Intense 48-Hour Adventure Across Britain's Highest Peaks
The team will tackle a grueling schedule, climbing Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in England, and Ben Nevis in Scotland—all within a tight 48-hour window. Travel between these formidable mountains will be facilitated by a specially chartered train service, adding a unique logistical layer to the challenge.
This endeavor involves navigating rough, uneven terrain and ascending thousands of metres, roughly equivalent to completing three half-marathons back-to-back. It is a true test of endurance and determination.
Aligning Corporate Mission with Charitable Cause
Richard Webb, group sales director at Journeo, emphasized the synergy between the company's mission and the event. “As a company dedicated to making public transport journeys more comfortable and safer, the Three Peaks Challenge By Rail resonates strongly with us,” he stated.
“Railway Children’s work is absolutely vital in safeguarding vulnerable young people across transport networks. By raising both awareness and funds for their cause, we genuinely hope to make a positive and lasting difference.”
Detailed Itinerary and Charitable Goals
The specially designated train will depart from Crewe Station, transporting participants to Snowdon for the initial climb. The journey continues to Ravenglass for the ascent of Scafell Pike, concluding at Fort William for the final push up Ben Nevis, the United Kingdom's tallest peak.
The determined team comprises Adam Cousins, a transport systems consultant from Infotec; John Cope, a senior design engineer at Journeo; Geoff Pulford, business development manager for rail systems; and Richard Webb. Together, they aim to raise a minimum of £4,000 in donations.
Supporting Railway Children's Critical Mission
Railway Children collaborates with local governments, transport companies, and communities to enhance safety for young people on transport networks, advocate for policy changes in child protection, and strengthen community responses to support children at risk.
Jack Miller, group director of fundraising and marketing at Railway Children, highlighted the event's significance. “The Three Peaks Challenge By Rail has served as a flagship fundraising event for over two decades. The ongoing support from organizations like Journeo is crucial in helping us raise essential funds for vulnerable young people in desperate need of our assistance,” he remarked.
“We are eagerly anticipating another highly successful event in 2026.”
This initiative not only showcases corporate social responsibility but also underscores a profound commitment to community welfare and safety within the transport sector.
