Staff at a family-run cocktail bar in Lichfield have been left 'devastated' after a man died and another was injured following an assault.
Staffordshire Police were called to an incident at Ricco & Loren on Market Street following reports that two men had been punched on Sunday, May 24.
One of the men, who was seriously injured, tragically died in hospital on Tuesday, May 26. A second man was later discharged from hospital. Police have since charged Billy Allison, 36, from Solihull, with murder.
Bar's Statement
In a social media post, Ricco & Loren, a wine and cocktail bar, said it was sending 'our love, thoughts, and best wishes to everyone affected'.
'As a small local family business, we are devastated by the events of the last few days,' the post said. 'We have been working closely with the police in this matter, and we will continue to do so throughout this incredibly sad and difficult time.'
'We are sending all our love, thoughts, and best wishes to everyone affected, we will be closed for a few days to give our staff some time, thank you.'
Police Investigation
In a statement, Staffordshire Police said: 'A man has been charged with murder after a man who was seriously assaulted in Lichfield sadly died.'
'We were called to the Ricco and Loren bar on Market Street at 11.25pm on Sunday (24 May) following reports that two men had been punched.'
'Sadly, one of the men, who was seriously injured, died in hospital this afternoon (Tuesday 26 May). His family are being supported by specialist officers at this tragic time.'
'The second victim was also taken to hospital but has since been discharged.'
'Billy Allison, 36, from Solihull, was arrested just after 5am on Monday (26 May). He has been charged with murder and Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.'
Allison is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Wednesday 27 May.
