West Midlands Police Dogs Get Festive Treats from Staff Donations
Police staff donate Christmas toys to hard-working dogs

Staff and officers from West Midlands Police have spent the last few weeks ensuring the force's canine colleagues are not forgotten this Christmas, by donating a haul of toys and treats.

A Festive Reward for Four-Legged Officers

The generous initiative saw a collection of dog toys and edible goodies amassed for the hard-working police dogs. The donations were warmly welcomed by the Dog Unit, with Inspector Rachel Crump expressing her gratitude. She highlighted that the dogs, alongside their handlers and support staff, would be on duty over Christmas to keep communities safe.

"We’re very thankful to everyone who donated and thought of our dogs," Inspector Crump said. "Our police dogs are a credit to West Midlands Police, and they also deserve a treat at Christmas." She also paid tribute to the unit's staff and volunteers who care for the animals year-round.

Business Partners Join the Giving Spirit

The charitable effort was bolstered by staff from Arcus, the facilities management company working with the force. The company donated several boxes filled with canine goodies to show their support.

Nicola Grange, Business Unit Leader for West Midlands Police at Arcus FM, commented on the collaboration. "We’re really proud to support West Midlands Police and to play a small part in recognising the incredible work of the Dog Unit," she said. "These dogs and their handlers do an outstanding job keeping our communities safe, often behind the scenes."

Community Safety Continues Through the Holidays

The donations serve as a festive token of appreciation for dogs who perform vital roles in policing, from tracking suspects to searching for missing persons. The gesture underscores the close bond within the police community and the recognition that welfare and reward are important for all members of the team, including the four-legged ones.

As the force continues its operations throughout the holiday season, these donated biscuits and toys promise to deliver some well-earned joy to its canine crime-fighters.
