Principality Building Society has revealed the latest beneficiaries of its substantial charitable funding programmes, with a combined investment approaching £600,000. This significant financial support is dedicated to bolstering communities, empowering young people, and advancing environmental sustainability initiatives throughout Wales.
Substantial Funding for Future Generations and Energy Efficiency
In this most recent allocation, the society has directed almost £500,000 to fifteen organisations via its Future Generations Fund. Concurrently, a further £100,000 has been distributed to four groups through the Retrofit for the Future Fund. These programmes, established in 2022, represent a long-term commitment, having now awarded a cumulative total of £2 million in grants since their inception.
Both funds are administered in collaboration with Community Foundation Wales. Grants are awarded on an annual basis to organisations whose missions align with supporting young people or to third-sector groups managing community buildings, with the aim of implementing energy efficiency improvements.
Diverse Range of Beneficiaries Across Wales
The application window for this funding round concluded in October 2025, inviting submissions from non-profit entities across Wales and the Welsh-English border region, including registered charities and various community organisations. The latest recipients showcase the wide geographic and sectoral reach of the funding.
Notable beneficiaries in this cycle include:
- Mid Powys Youth Theatre, receiving £40,000
- Stepping Stones North Wales, awarded £30,000
- Newport Cricket Club, granted £25,000
- Child of the Earth CIC in North Pembrokeshire, receiving £38,940
- Rhondda Netball, awarded £40,000
Commitment to Building a Fairer Society
Nigel Taylor, Head of Brand, Impact and Communications at Principality Building Society, emphasised the organisation's core values. "Supporting communities across Wales and charitable giving are central to our values at Principality Building Society," he stated. "As a mutual organisation, we reinvest a percentage of our profits for the benefit of our members – this commitment is a core part of our purpose, to build a fairer society."
Taylor expressed pride in the tangible outcomes, noting, "We’re so proud to see all the projects and organisations that have benefited from this year’s funds. Both our Future Generations and Retrofit for the Future funds make a real difference to the lives of people across Wales and support important causes - a legacy we are firmly committed to."
Strengthening Community Partnerships
Richard Williams, Chief Executive of Community Foundation Wales, highlighted the success of the ongoing partnership as it enters its fifth year. "We’re proud to continue our partnership with Principality Building Society, as we enter our fifth year of working together to support communities across Wales," he said.
Williams detailed the impact, explaining, "Through the Future Generations Fund and the Retrofit for the Future Fund, this partnership has supported work with young people and helped communities take practical steps to reduce their energy bills and their environmental impact." He concluded by underscoring the local focus, "By working in partnership, we’re able to ensure funding reaches grassroots organisations and respond to issues that matter most locally."
This latest funding announcement reinforces Principality Building Society's role as a key financial supporter of community resilience, youth opportunity, and environmental stewardship throughout Wales, channelling mutual society profits directly into causes that align with its social purpose.
