Fraser's Budgens Raises £800+ for Sue Ryder Hospice in Reading
Reading store raises £800+ for Sue Ryder hospice care

A family-run Reading convenience store has marked the end of a successful year-long partnership with a vital local hospice, raising significant funds and spreading festive cheer to dedicated staff and volunteers.

A Year of Fundraising and Community Spirit

Throughout 2025, Fraser's Budgens in Three Mile Cross supported the Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice by donating the charge from every single shopping bag sold. This initiative resulted in a donation of more than £800, which will directly fund the palliative and bereavement care provided by the hospice to patients and their families in the Reading area.

The store's commitment extended far beyond simple fundraising. Eager to get involved, staff from the forecourt and shop also participated in the 2025 Sue Ryder Starlight Hike Thames Valley event. There, they provided refreshments for the hike's volunteers, all of which were donated directly by Fraser's Budgens.

Celebrating Dedication with Festive Thanks

To round off the year of support, the team delivered festive goodies and drinks to the hospice's volunteer staff party. They also presented a generous hamper to the hospice team as a tangible recognition of their compassion and hard work.

Nick Fraser, from Fraser's Budgens, commented on the partnership. "Our partnership with Sue Ryder reflects Fraser’s Budgens’ ongoing commitment to supporting local groups that make a real difference in the community," he said. "We are proud to have raised money to support the charity’s vital work and we've also loved being able to bring a smile to the faces of staff and volunteers who work so hard."

Essential Support for Local Care

Ashni Parmar, Senior Community Fundraiser for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice, expressed profound gratitude for the store's efforts. "We’re so grateful to the team at Fraser’s Budgens for everything they have done this year," she stated. "We rely heavily on the support of the local community, and the money they have raised through bag sales will help ensure that no one has to face death or grief alone."
