RSPCA Radcliffe Centre Gets £1,500 Housebuilder Boost

An animal centre in Radcliffe-on-Trent is celebrating after receiving a generous funding boost from a neighbouring housebuilder. The £1,500 contribution will directly support vital welfare services and veterinary treatment for recovering animals at the centre.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes gifted the donation to the RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre, which relies on independent funding to help animals in need. The money will help cover essential medical care alongside everyday necessities like food and bedding.

Community Support Makes a Difference

Lyn Jarrett, who works at RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre, said: “At our centre, we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals in need across Nottinghamshire, and we are incredibly proud to work closely with our community to promote responsible pet ownership and improve animal welfare through education and support.” The charity operates independently from the national RSPCA and relies entirely on local generosity to keep its doors open.

Lyn Jarrett added: “Donations like this truly make a difference. Every day we see animals arrive in heartbreaking conditions and it’s only through the support of our community that we’re able to give them the care, treatment and second chance they deserve.”

Plans for Improvement

The team is focused on improving its facilities and expanding educational work within the Nottinghamshire community. Lyn Jarrett said: “As a local, independently funded charity, we rely on generosity like this to keep going. Our work means so much, not just for the animals but for the people we support too, whether that’s offering advice, guidance or helping families find the right pet for their home.”

The contribution was made through the housebuilder's community fund scheme, which is run by The Barratt Redrow Foundation. Celebrating its fifth anniversary on May 22, 2026, the foundation has committed millions of pounds to good causes across the UK.

Gratitude Expressed

Lyn Jarrett said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for its generous donation. It will have a real and lasting impact on the animals in our care. It means so much to know that there are companies out there who genuinely care and want to support the work we do for animals in need.”

Representatives from the building company expressed their pride in supporting such an important community service. Mark Cotes, from Barratt and David Wilson Homes, said: “The work of RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre is of extreme importance as there are many animals in need of a loving home and we are pleased to contribute towards its excellent services.”

The developer also praised the charity for its dedication to teaching people about responsible pet ownership. Mark Cotes said: “The charity’s efforts to care for pets in need is fantastic to see, and tackling education and support for pet owners is also vital for the care of animals.”
