Queenscourt Hospice Welcomes New Executive Director of Strategy & Business Development
Queenscourt Hospice has announced the appointment of Sam Hawksley as its new Executive Director of Strategy & Business Development. This strategic hire marks a significant addition to the hospice's leadership team as it continues to provide compassionate care to the local community.
Experienced Leader Takes the Helm
Sam Hawksley brings a wealth of leadership experience to Queenscourt Hospice, having previously served as Chief Executive Officer for several charities across the North West and London. His professional background spans mental health organisations, voluntary sector infrastructure, and music in prisons initiatives.
In addition to his charity sector roles, Hawksley has gained valuable experience working for a local authority and in public sector consulting. His diverse career path also includes involvement in community music projects, demonstrating his commitment to social causes.
Local Connection and Personal Interests
Living locally, Sam Hawksley is already familiar with Queenscourt Hospice's excellent reputation within the community. "I am delighted to be joining the team at Queenscourt," Hawksley stated. "I look forward to getting to know and work with the staff, volunteers and trustees."
He continued: "Living locally I know the excellent reputation the hospice has in our local communities, supporting individuals and families with high quality and compassionate care. I am excited to build on the fabulous work so far."
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Hawksley enjoys spending quality time with his family, playing music, participating in sports, and experimenting with bread-making.
Transition in Leadership
Sam Hawksley will be taking over responsibilities from Debbie Pierce-Lawson, the current Executive Director of Corporate Services, who is scheduled to retire in March. This transition represents a carefully planned handover to ensure continuity in the hospice's operations.
Debbie Pierce-Lawson expressed her confidence in the new appointment, saying: "We are delighted to welcome Sam to our team as Executive Director of Strategy & Business Development. Sam's leadership and management experience, as well as his connections to the local community, make him very well suited to this important new role."
She added: "We look forward to the valuable contribution he will make to our charity."
Expanded Responsibilities
In his new position, Sam Hawksley will oversee several critical areas of Queenscourt Hospice's operations. His responsibilities will include developing the organisation's overall future strategy, managing Non-Clinical Support Services, overseeing Education initiatives, and driving business development efforts.
This comprehensive role reflects the hospice's commitment to strategic growth while maintaining its core mission of providing exceptional end-of-life care to patients and support to their families.
The appointment comes at a time when healthcare charities face increasing challenges and opportunities, making strategic leadership more important than ever for organisations like Queenscourt Hospice.
