This week, the Sunshine Fund is celebrating its event sponsors, whose support is vital for fundraising efforts that provide specialist equipment to children with disabilities, additional needs, and terminal illnesses in the North East. The charity's core events include the Sunshine Run, Great North Run, and Question of Sport, which raise significant funds but also incur high costs. Sponsorship ensures these events are successful and maximize funds for the cause.
Stagecoach Backs Sunshine Run for Sixth Year
As the deadline approaches for the Sunshine Run 5k, the charity has been catching up with long-term sponsor Stagecoach, which is supporting the event for the sixth consecutive year. Beyond contributing to event costs, Stagecoach enters a team of runners and provides a bus on the day for a bag drop service. The company also conducts on-the-bus collections, participates in events, and partners with the charity on the accessible Santa Grotto Bus. The Sunshine Run still has spaces available, with registration closing next Sunday, May 3. Entry includes a t-shirt, medal, chip timing, and a donation to support local children with complex needs. Participants will enjoy live music from local steelband The Bangshees and discounts at local bars. The run is timed so participants can watch the England match afterward. Great North Run Charity Places Available
With running season in full swing, including the Manchester and London marathons, Pier to Pier run, and Quayside events, the Sunshine Fund still has charity places for the Great North Run in September. Thanks to sponsor True Potential LLP, the charity will have over 140 runners representing Team Sunshine. The GNR is a key opportunity for charities but involves high costs. As one of the longest-standing charities in the North East, the Sunshine Fund ensures all funds raised by runners stay local. Sign up at www.thesunshinefund.org/gnr to make a local impact.
