Family's Fury After Young Father Killed by Speeding Driver on Soho Road

The heartbroken family of a young father killed in a high-speed collision on Soho Road in Handsworth have expressed their profound anger and sorrow over his tragic death. Hizar Hanif, aged just 32, lost his life instantly when an Audi driver, traveling at 90mph in a 30mph zone, plowed into his vehicle, causing an eight-car pileup.

Emotional Court Statements Reveal Family's Grief

In a poignant statement delivered at Birmingham Crown Court, Hizar's wife shared her devastation, stating that their son "didn't have enough time with daddy." She added, "He died on a cold and dirty road without his loved ones by his side. I'm angry I never got to say goodbye, angry we never got to grow old together. Our best days were ahead of us and have been stolen from us."

Details of the Tragic Incident

The fatal crash occurred around 8:20pm on February 18, 2024. Hizar was a passenger in his own BMW, which was struck by Mohammed Ali's speeding Audi. At the time, Hizar and his best friend, Waqar Sadiq, were on their way to drop off a suit for Waqar's wedding, where Hizar was set to be the best man just a week later.

Waqar Sadiq, who suffered whiplash in the collision, recounted, "What should have been the happiest time of my life turned into shock and grief. We were not in the right state of mind to celebrate and had a small intimate ceremony at home instead."

Family's Lasting Pain and Driver's Sentencing

Hizar's father, Mohammed Hanif, expressed his enduring anguish, saying, "I have been left with a permanent wound in my life that will never heal. He was taken from us in a senseless and preventable crash when he wasn't doing anything wrong."

Mohammed Ali, 27, of Robert Road, Birchfield, admitted guilt just days before his trial was scheduled to begin earlier this year. He pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and assaulting an emergency worker.

On Friday, April 17, at Birmingham Crown Court, Ali was sentenced to seven years in prison. Additionally, he received a driving ban of four years and six months, effective from the point of his release.
