Swansea Bay Foundation Distributes £13,750 to 31 Grassroots Projects
Swansea Bay Foundation has allocated £13,750 in its latest grant round to 31 community-led projects across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire, and Pembrokeshire. This funding aims to bolster volunteer-driven initiatives that positively impact local lives.
Diverse Range of Supported Initiatives
The grants will support a broad spectrum of activities, including programs for children and young people with additional learning needs (ALN), mental health and wellbeing support, girls' and women's football, community meals and coffee mornings, outdoor and environmental education, and equipment for schools, youth clubs, and community spaces.
Projects funded in this round encompass therapy and inclusive activities for neurodivergent children, walking and singing sessions for dementia patients, emergency veterinary support, STEM and sports equipment, cooking and gardening programs, and community cafés and gatherings designed to reduce isolation and foster connections.
Impactful Organisations and Testimonials
Among the organisations receiving support are Inclusability, Fishguard Chess Club, and Rockspur FC, alongside various schools, youth clubs, sports teams, community centres, and voluntary groups deeply embedded in their communities.
Anthony and Louise from Inclusability Swansea commented, "The funding has made a meaningful and lasting difference to families across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. It enabled us to provide inclusive, accessible events where children with additional learning needs can participate safely and joyfully. These sessions reduce isolation by creating spaces where families feel understood and supported, fostering friendships and supportive networks."
Stuart Warner of Fishguard Chess Club said, "We were delighted to receive a grant to purchase 10 quality chess sets. Our club, less than a year old, already has over 50 members, and they were thrilled with the new equipment."
Ryan from Rockspur FC added, "We are thrilled to receive support for expanding our ladies' football section. Women's football continues to grow, and we're confident it will thrive for years to come."
Foundation's Commitment and Business Support
Dawn Lyle, Chair of Trustees at Swansea Bay Foundation, stated, "These grants reflect the incredible commitment, compassion, and creativity of community organisations in the Swansea Bay region. Each project will make a meaningful difference locally, and we are proud to support those strengthening our communities daily."
Since 2023, the foundation has awarded over £160,000 in grants to community projects, enabled by long-term commitments from local and regional businesses. Dawn Lyle emphasised, "Our business partners play a vital role. Their ongoing support allows us to back projects that improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and create opportunities for all ages. We are incredibly grateful to the businesses standing alongside us."
The foundation extends warm thanks to recent contributors, including Day's Motor Group, CK Foodstores, Morganstone, Castell Howell, Taylor Leisure Group, Morgan La Roche Solicitors, and Short Bros Homes.
