In a statement, dad Simon Doyle said: "Tobias was my best friend. He was a giggly, happy little boy who put a smile on everyone’s face. He had the most beautiful chubby cheeks and curly hair and he absolutely loved dinosaurs. We love him and miss him so much."

Omiel Gordon, 35, of Butterwick Drive, Leicester, and Shalom Morgan, 23, of Morledge Street, Leicester, were charged in connection with the boy's death on Monday, April 27. They have been charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and child cruelty.

The defendants were remanded in custody when they appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Monday. They are due to appear at Leicester Crown Court on Wednesday, April 29.

Detective Inspector Kevin Hames, senior investigating officer, previously said: "My thoughts very much remain with Tobias and everyone who is affected by his extremely sad death. I am aware of the impact this news will have in the community and we will have officers in the areas affected to help in offering reassurance to you - please do speak with them if you have any concerns. This is a complex investigation and I do want to thank those who have provided support during this time. As court proceedings are now active, we do ask that people do not speculate and take care with any publication made so as to not prejudice these court proceedings. Thank you."

Leicestershire Police previously said it was contacted by East Midlands Ambulance Service on November 29.
