Molumby Vows West Brom Will Not Relax After Securing Championship Survival
West Bromwich Albion have mathematically guaranteed their place in the Championship for next season, but midfielder Jayson Molumby has issued a firm declaration that the team will not be taking their foot off the gas in the remaining fixtures.
The Baggies secured their survival with a convincing 3-0 victory over Watford at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night. Goals from Isaac Price and Daryl Dike put Albion in control before on-loan full-back Danny Imray sealed the win with a late strike.
Unbeaten Run and Momentum
This result extends West Brom's unbeaten streak to nine matches, a run that includes four consecutive clean sheets. Speaking to Albion TV, Molumby emphasized the importance of maintaining this positive momentum.
"We have massive momentum and there is a good feeling," Molumby stated. "We want to win as many games as we can until the end of the season, that is our goal now. We won't be on the beach, we want to give everything until the end."
The midfielder highlighted the collective effort behind their recent form, praising not only the players but also the coaching staff and everyone associated with the club.
Safety Amid Uncertainty
With two games remaining, Albion now sit eight points clear of Oxford United, effectively ensuring their Championship status regardless of other results. However, a potential points deduction for a Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) breach remains an unresolved issue, though it does not threaten their safety.
Manager James Morrison has overseen this impressive turnaround, guiding the team away from relegation danger during his tenure.
Praise for Imray
The victory was particularly memorable for Danny Imray, the Crystal Palace loanee who scored his first goal for the club. Imray made his debut in a 3-0 loss at Portsmouth but has since flourished under Morrison's guidance.
Molumby commended the young defender's resilience, noting, "He has been brilliant since he has come in. He came in during a difficult moment and for a young player to come in on loan into a relegation fight is tough, so credit to him. He is a brilliant lad and he has been massive for us lately."
As West Brom prepare for their final two matches of the season, the focus remains on finishing strongly and building on their recent successes, with Molumby's words underscoring a determined mindset within the squad.
