Tullis Russell Funds Memory-Making Trolleys for East Cheshire Hospice Patients

Two specially designed trolleys, funded by the long-established Bollington company Tullis Russell, are now helping patients at East Cheshire Hospice create cherished memories with their families and friends. The trolleys store a wide array of art and craft materials, accompanied by a helpful guide that suggests various ways patients can engage in meaningful activities alongside their loved ones.

Enhancing Patient Experience Through Creative Activities

Currently deployed in the hospice's inpatient unit, these innovative trolleys are part of a broader initiative to support patient well-being. Tullis Russell has expressed hopes to fund additional trolleys for the Sunflower Living Well Centre, expanding the program's reach. The donation was facilitated through both Tullis Russell and its charitable arm, the Russell Trust, reflecting the company's deep commitment to local community support.

Fergus McKendrick, Managing Director of Tullis Russell, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, "Through the Russell Trust and Tullis Russell, supporting local causes is something we're passionate about, and it's a privilege to help an organisation that does so much for our local community. We've built a strong relationship with East Cheshire Hospice over the years and continue to be inspired by the incredible care and support it provides to patients and their families."

He added, "We're proud that our latest donation helped fund making memories trolleys, giving patients and families the opportunity to share meaningful moments together when they matter most."

Community Impact and Employee Ownership

Tullis Russell, which is predominantly employee-owned, employs over 100 staff in Bollington. The company specializes in creating advanced coatings for a diverse range of paper products, including labels, security documents, and sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics. This donation underscores their dedication to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.

The initiative has garnered positive feedback, including a heartfelt comment on the company's LinkedIn page: "My mother died there and I used to work for Tullis Russell, so this post makes me feel good. Thank you."

Creating Lasting Keepsakes for Families

Amy Williams, the Hospice's Family and Friends fundraiser, highlighted the immediate impact of the trolleys, saying, "We've already seen families create beautiful keepsakes together which they can treasure forever. We can't thank Tullis Russell enough for helping make this special project possible."

The memory-making trolleys not only provide therapeutic benefits for patients but also foster emotional connections, allowing families to share creative experiences during challenging times. This project exemplifies how local businesses can play a pivotal role in enhancing healthcare services and supporting community well-being through targeted charitable efforts.
