Warwick Half Marathon Seeks Runners for Charity

Community fundraisers are being encouraged to seize the final few complimentary spots available for runners supporting the Molly Ollys charity at next month's Warwick Half Marathon. The event, scheduled for Sunday, February 1, promises to be a vibrant affair as the charity aims to paint the town pink with its presence at this annual 13.1-mile race.

Event Details and Route

Organised by RunThrough and sponsored by Moore & Tibitts, the Warwick Half Marathon will follow a scenic route starting at Warwick Racecourse. Participants will journey along Coventry Road to Leek Wootton, proceed down Rouncil Lane, and return to Warwick via Hatton and Hampton on the Hill. In addition to the main race, a 1km junior run is set to take place, with nearly 100 youngsters expected to participate, adding a family-friendly dimension to the day.

Charity Involvement and Fundraising Goals

Rachel Ollerenshaw, founder of Molly Ollys, expressed her enthusiasm: "For the second consecutive year, Molly Ollys is thrilled to be the chosen charity for the Warwick Half Marathon, one of the most significant events in the Warwickshire running calendar, attracting over 2,000 runners. We still have a limited number of free places available and are eager to surpass last year's participant count and fundraising total."

Participants can run individually, with family, friends, or colleagues, fostering a sense of community and teamwork. To boost morale, several 'cheer stations' will be positioned along the course, offering encouragement to all runners.

About Molly Ollys Charity

Molly Ollys was established in 2011 by Rachel and Tim Ollerenshaw from Warwick, following the tragic loss of their eight-year-old daughter Molly to a rare kidney cancer. The charity is dedicated to supporting children with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, focusing on enhancing emotional wellbeing. To date, they have fulfilled more than 4,300 wishes and donated therapeutic toys and books directly to children and hospitals across the UK.

How to Get Involved

Everyone who registers to run with Molly Ollys will receive a free entry, a complimentary running T-shirt, and ongoing support from the charity team. Interested individuals must book their place by Monday, January 26, to secure a spot. For further details or to donate, please contact the charity directly.
