Welsh Gamers' Charity Stream for Hospice This Weekend

Welsh Gaming Community Unites for Children's Hospice Fundraiser

This St David's weekend, a group of generous gamers is set to host a major charity event to support a local children's hospice. The Dathlu Gaming Cymru collective, led by Johnny Beard from Llandudno, will organize a 36-hour entertainment streaming marathon on Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1. This marks their fifth such event, with over 55 of Wales' top streamers participating to create a fun-packed experience.

Raising Funds and Awareness for Tŷ Gobaith

Johnny Beard, a father himself, expressed his passion for the cause, stating, "We're back raising money for Tŷ Gobaith. Our goal is to surpass the £50,000 mark, building on the over £40,000 we've raised in previous years." He highlighted the incredible work of Tŷ Gobaith, a hospice in Conwy that provides free care to children with life-threatening conditions and their families. Johnny added, "It was a privilege to visit and see their services firsthand. We urge everyone to log on, enjoy the fun, learn about Tŷ Gobaith, and donate what they can."

The event will feature a diverse lineup of activities, including gaming, music, and cosplay, with appearances from popular figures like @BeardoGetsScared, a YouTuber with millions of views, and the American-Welsh sensation @JenxofficialEDM. Johnny emphasized the hard work behind the scenes, noting, "It takes months of preparation, but we're proud of all the Welsh streamers and TikTokkers who volunteer their time."

Community Impact and Support

Andy Everley, fundraising manager for Tŷ Gobaith, praised the efforts of the gaming community, saying, "Johnny and the Dathlu Gaming Cymru crew all have hearts of gold. Their work has made a real difference to many families we support." The event kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, offering a platform to showcase Welsh talent while supporting a vital charity.

This initiative not only raises crucial funds but also increases awareness about the hospice's services, demonstrating the power of digital communities in driving positive change. With past successes and high hopes for this year, the gaming marathon promises to be an engaging and impactful weekend for all involved.
