Xenia Staff Climb Scafell Pike for Mental Health Charity

Xenia Team Conquers Scafell Pike in Charity Fundraiser

More than twenty dedicated staff members from the property management and lettings group Xenia recently swapped their daily routines for an adventurous challenge, scaling England's highest mountain to support a crucial mental health charity. The 22-strong team, based in Sale, Greater Manchester, successfully reached the 978-metre summit of Scafell Pike in the picturesque Lake District, raising an impressive £1,700 for Manchester Mind.

Team Effort and Canine Companions

Among the participants were key figures from Xenia, including director of estates Farrah McWilliam, head of estates Miriam Unsworth, and head of lettings Jennifer Brown. Adding a touch of charm to the expedition were the team's unofficial mascots: Willow the cocker spaniel and Bear the Pomeranian, belonging to Jennifer and Farrah respectively, who joined the climb and provided cheerful companionship along the rugged trails.

Inspiring Words from the Organisers

Rachel Feltham, Xenia's head of welfare, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating: "We had a great turnout, and everyone was raring to go for a wonderful cause. It was a really tough hike, but everyone took on the challenge like a champion, and there was a real sense of achievement at the end despite their sore legs!" She highlighted the fundraising success, noting: "We've managed to raise a fantastic amount of money for Manchester Mind, and we're hugely grateful to everyone who took part, supported us, and donated – it's hugely appreciated. I'm so pleased that our efforts will go towards making a positive difference to such a vital charity."

Commitment to Community and Wellbeing

Rachel further emphasised Xenia's dedication to corporate social responsibility, explaining: "Being involved in charity-related work is extremely important to Xenia as a business. As part of our wider commitment to corporate social responsibility, we actively support initiatives that benefit our local community and contribute to meaningful social impact." She added: "Manchester Mind does amazing work around the clock to support young people and adults in the area. Alongside supporting good causes in the community, we are committed to promoting mental health awareness in the workplace." The outdoor activity aligns with Xenia's mental health and wellbeing initiatives, encouraging team members to engage in events, socialise, and support charitable causes.

Impact of the Fundraising

Manchester Mind, which supports over 11,000 young people and adults annually by promoting positive mental health attitudes and challenging stigma, greatly benefits from such initiatives. Zoe Colven-Davies, fundraising officer at Manchester Mind, shared her gratitude: "We are so grateful to the Xenia team – every step they took up Scafell Pike will help us ensure nobody in Manchester faces a mental health challenge alone and receives support, understanding, and hope." She detailed how the funds are used: "Every pound raised goes directly to our Welcome and Access Team, who are the first point of contact for anyone reaching out to Manchester Mind. Xenia's support helps us make it easier for anyone to ask for assistance, ensuring no-one feels alone when taking that first, often hardest, step toward better mental health."

This inspiring climb not only showcased Xenia's team spirit and commitment to philanthropy but also underscored the importance of community support in addressing mental health challenges, making a tangible difference in the Greater Manchester area.
