Interactive Map: Birmingham's 13 Council Youth Centres

Birmingham has seen a significant decline in youth services over the years, with only 13 council-run youth centres still operating. Since 2010, dozens of youth hubs have closed across the country, and Birmingham has been hit hard by these losses, leaving many young people without access to vital services.

Current Spread of Council-Run Youth Centres

Our interactive map below shows the current distribution of council-run youth centres in Birmingham. The six fully operational hubs are marked with blue pins, while seven other sites that deliver two youth work sessions per week are marked with orange pins.

There are plans to transfer the Naseby Centre and Clifton Road Youth Centre buildings to a third-sector organisation, which will provide additional services alongside existing Youth Service sessions.

New Young Futures Hub

In addition to the 13 council-run hubs, a new Young Futures Hub is set to open permanently on Cannon Street in August. Currently operating as a temporary service in the Library of Birmingham, this centre is part of a wider central government initiative under the National Youth Strategy. The strategy aims to establish a network of 50 hubs across the country, offering joined-up services in mental health, wellbeing, employment, and crime prevention.

The goals of these youth facilities are to transform young people's lives, cut crime, protect communities, and divert youth from knife crime and anti-social behaviour. They also provide services and advice to combat social isolation, mental health issues, and unemployment, while giving access to safe, trusted adults.
