Rossendale Ramblers have enjoyed an excellent week of walking, with a total of 47 ramblers participating in three separate walks that covered an impressive 20 miles. The group's activities showcased the beautiful local landscapes and provided opportunities for social interaction and exercise.
Wednesday Walk: Scenic 10-Mile Route from Ogden Reservoir
On Wednesday, twenty ramblers embarked on a scenic ten-mile walk starting from Ogden Reservoir near Rochdale. The route included notable landmarks such as Nicholas Pike, Windy Hill, the Pennine Way, and White Hill, as well as several picturesque reservoirs. Participants described it as a lovely day out, with stunning views and pleasant weather enhancing the experience.
Saturday Pub Walk: Shirt Sleeves Weather and Socializing
Saturday saw seventeen walkers and four dogs enjoying shirt sleeves weather on a two-hour pub walk from Haslingden. The route featured the recently refurbished Lumb viaduct cycleway, adding a touch of modern infrastructure to the traditional ramble. After the walk, most of the group extended their outing with a lengthy lunch session at the pub, combining physical activity with social enjoyment.
Sunday Sculpture Trail: Art and Nature Combine
On Sunday, ten ramblers set off from Stacksteads for a six-mile walk along the Irwell Sculpture Trail. This artistic route included a visit to Lee Quarry, home to the impressive Ferroterrasaurus sculpture.
