Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT) has launched a Prom Bank initiative to ensure Year 11 pupils across its schools, including The Gainsborough Academy, can attend prom without financial strain. The scheme allows students to borrow dresses, suits, ties, shoes, bags, jewellery, and accessories completely free of charge.
Addressing Financial Barriers
Prom night is a major milestone, but soaring costs of outfits and accessories can leave families struggling. The Prom Bank removes these barriers, enabling every student to celebrate in style next summer. The Trust is calling on families, businesses, and charities to donate items in good condition—no holes, stains, or significant damage. Donations will be laundered and stored for distribution.
How to Donate
Items can be dropped off at The Gainsborough Academy’s school reception. Adult formalwear of all sizes is welcome. Helen O’Brien, CEO at WPT, said: “We recognise that the cost of prom can be a worry for some families, particularly at a time when household budgets are already stretched. We’ve seen first-hand the difference that support like this can make, and we want to ensure every student has the opportunity to attend prom feeling confident and comfortable.”
Community Support
O’Brien added: “Our Trust community is incredibly generous, and we’re asking people to support this initiative if they can. Something that is no longer needed in someone’s wardrobe could make a real difference to a young person preparing for one of the most memorable moments in their school life.” Alongside the Prom Bank, WPT has launched a Uniform Bank offering pre-loved uniform items for students at its primary and secondary schools.
