Amazon Driver Enters Family Home Uninvited While Children Are Inside
An investigation has been launched by Amazon after a delivery driver was caught on camera entering a customer's home without permission in Thorne, South Yorkshire. The incident, which occurred on February 19 at 7:11 pm, has left the family's children feeling unsafe in their own home.
Ring Doorbell Footage Captures Shocking Moment
Ring doorbell footage from the property on Cedar Road shows the driver pressing the doorbell and knocking four times before trying the unlocked front door. When no one answered immediately, he stepped inside the porch area. A voice off-camera can be heard saying, "stop right there, don't come in please," as he entered.
The homeowner, who wishes to remain anonymous, revealed that three children—aged 12, 15, and 18—were present inside at the time. One of the daughters approached the door but walked away after not hearing it clearly, leaving the driver to proceed uninvited.
Family's Safety Concerns and Emotional Impact
The resident expressed deep concern over the incident, stating that it has significantly affected his children. "The young ones are petrified at the fact he walked in," he said. "We have lived in that house for over 10 years and never had to really lock the door whilst we are in as we felt safe. But for that to happen has put some strain on the youngest children, and now we are having to lock the door all the time."
He added, "The big question is how many more has he tried the door at if there's no answer? I understand if people leave signs saying drivers can leave parcels in their porch, but it shouldn't be standard procedure."
Amazon's Response and Investigation
Amazon has confirmed that the driver involved is from one of its delivery partners and that an investigation is underway. A spokesperson for the online retail giant said, "We have very high standards for the delivery service providers we work with and are looking into this matter."
This incident highlights broader issues around delivery safety protocols and the trust placed in service providers. It serves as a reminder for residents to consider security measures, even when at home, in an era of frequent parcel deliveries.
