An eight-day-old baby has been rushed to hospital after a suspected drunk driver flipped a car onto its roof on the M50 in Gloucestershire. The horrific crash occurred at 6:15 am on May 25.
Crash Details
According to reports, a Peugeot 308 collided with the nearside barrier between junctions 1 and 2 of the M50 before overturning. A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol following a police investigation.
Injuries and Hospitalizations
The woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment, while the eight-day-old baby was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital. Motorists faced long delays as accident recovery and police investigation work were carried out.
Traffic Impact
One lane of the M50 eastbound remains closed for barrier repairs. Traffic was at a standstill for several hours as emergency services attended the scene.
Police Appeal
Police are now appealing for witnesses. A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the moments leading up to it."
