A pedestrian has been left with life-changing injuries following a hit-and-run collision in a Birmingham street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Appeal for Witnesses After Driver Flees Scene

The incident occurred at the junction of City Road and Portland Road in North Edgbaston at approximately 12:30am on Saturday, November 8. The victim, a man believed to be in his 50s, was struck by a car. The driver failed to stop at the scene and fled following the collision.

The man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for injuries described by police as life-changing.

Police Investigation and Road Closure

West Midlands Police have confirmed they are hunting the driver involved. A spokeswoman for the force stated: "We were called to reports that a man had been hit by a car at the junction of City Road and Portland Road, Birmingham just after 12.30am this morning (November 8)."

Eyewitnesses reported that a blue police tent was erected at the scene as part of the investigation. In the aftermath of the crash, City Road was closed at the junction with Portland Road, but the road has since been reopened to traffic.
