A father has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his three-month-old son, who died from a head injury in a tragic case in Stafford.

A Tragic Timeline of Events

Leon Stark was rushed to hospital on October 12, 2023, after falling seriously unwell at a property in Stafford. Despite medical efforts, the infant succumbed to his injuries eight days later on October 20.

An investigation by Staffordshire Police's major investigations department determined that the baby's significant head injury had been inflicted by his father.

Court Proceedings and Guilty Pleas

The child's father, Gareth Stark, aged 38, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, January 12, 2026. During the hearing, he entered a guilty plea to the charge of manslaughter.

Stark also pleaded guilty to a separate charge of battery. He is now awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled to take place at Stafford Crown Court on a date yet to be confirmed.
