Stepping Hill Radiology Team Runs Great Manchester Run in Memory of Colleague
Stepping Hill Team Runs for Colleague's Memory

The Radiology Team at Stepping Hill Hospital, part of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, transformed their grief into a powerful display of love and solidarity by participating in the Great Manchester Run to support Moya Cole Hospice. The team lost their colleague Adam to a brain tumour in September last year at the age of 38.

A Devastating Loss

Losing Adam at such a young age was devastating and affected everyone individually. The Radiology Team stated: “He had worked with us for many years, so it affected a lot of people. It was a very emotional time.” Many staff members within the trust regularly take part in the Great Manchester Run’s 10k event, and they decided to run in Adam’s memory. This was a challenge for several team members who had never participated in runs before.

Choosing a Charity

The Radiology Team contacted Adam’s family to select a charity for their run. They chose Moya Cole Hospice, which cared for Adam before he died. The team said: “We celebrated in his spirit but also raised awareness and funds to help others who are also taken too soon. Every individual who crossed that 10k finish line was a symbol of Adam’s memory, ensuring that he is never forgotten. The run served as a grieving process and a joyful celebration of the time we all had with Adam. Crossing the finish line was a testament to the fact that his legacy will forever be an integral part of the team.”
