Man Sentenced After Police Discovery in Car

A 20-year-old man has been locked up for more than two years after a routine vehicle stop in Staffordshire led to the discovery of class A drugs. Festim Qengaj was driving a black Ford Focus on Brocton Road in Milford when he was pulled over by proactive officers on Thursday, October 9.

The Discovery and Arrest

Upon searching the vehicle, police made a significant find. They discovered six snap bags containing cocaine and an iPhone. Qengaj was also found to be in possession of cash. The 20-year-old, from Sleaford, was immediately arrested at the scene.

He was subsequently charged and later appeared at Stafford Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a controlled class A drug, namely cocaine.

Court Sentencing and Police Statement

On Friday, November 14, Qengaj was sentenced to two years and six months in prison. In addition to the jail term, he was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for two years after admitting to driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He received no separate penalty for driving without insurance.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police stated: "The sentence follows our ongoing commitment to proactively target serious and organised crime across Staffordshire." The force highlighted its dedicated initiative, Operation Target, launched in May 2023, which aims to identify, disrupt, and pursue criminals involved in offences such as drug supply and knife crime.
