Police have confirmed that a 16-year-old boy who was attacked with a machete in Dudley remains in hospital, as the search for his assailants continues. The teenager was assaulted by two young men on a moped in broad daylight on Saturday, May 23, at around 2pm on Duncan Edwards Close.
Details of the Attack
The victim sustained serious injuries to his chest and face during the ordeal and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. He remains in a serious but stable condition, according to West Midlands Police. The attackers fled the scene after the assault, and no arrests have been made so far.
Police Appeal
In a statement released on Sunday, May 24, the force appealed for public assistance: “We’re appealing for the public’s help after a teenager was left seriously injured when violence broke out involving a group of people with machetes in Dudley. It’s believed he had been walking in the area when he was approached by two young men on a moped. They attacked him before fleeing.”
Detective Inspector Joe Davenport described the incident as “an horrific attack in the middle of the day” that “could easily have resulted in this boy losing his life.” He added: “We’ve been working tirelessly since then to understand exactly what happened, and who was responsible, and I’d urge anyone with information to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
Investigation Status
Police have recovered CCTV and mobile phone footage and have set up a dedicated web page for the public to submit information, pictures, and video directly to officers. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police told BlackCountryLive: “Enquiries are still ongoing. Teenage boy remains in hospital.”
