Egg-Throwing Yobs Target Bus Driver and Pedestrians in Wolverhampton City Centre
Shocking footage has emerged showing a group of youths launching eggs at unsuspecting members of the public in Wolverhampton city centre. The incident, which took place on Saturday, February 14, around 7:30pm on Market Street, involved the gang targeting a bus driver before turning their attention to other individuals.
Details of the Disturbing Incident
The group, armed with cartons of eggs, were captured on video throwing dozens of eggs at people minding their own business. In one particularly alarming moment, two members of the group sneaked up behind a delivery rider and smashed eggs on his helmet while he was on the move. The rider, like others, was an unsuspecting victim of this egging rampage.
Further footage shows the youngsters ganging up on two men standing in the doorway of a business. They pelted the men with eggs, leading to one of the victims shouting at the youths and chasing them. However, the group then turned the tables, chasing the man up the high street and hitting him with eggs for a second time as he attempted to flee.
Public Reaction and Police Investigation
Members of the public expressed shock and outrage at the footage. One person commented, "What drives idiots like that to throw eggs at people," while another described the youths as "feral." Some called for harsher punishments, with one stating, "The UK needs harsh punishment for crimes, harsh deterrence."
However, not everyone saw the harm in such actions. One individual remarked, "Vintage fun good to see the youth not on their phones to be honest," and another wrote, "We were doing this 30 years ago."
West Midlands Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident. A spokesperson said, "The Safer Travel team are investigating after eggs were thrown at a bus on Market Street in Wolverhampton at just before 7:30pm on Saturday (14 Feb). Anti-social behaviour is not acceptable and is a focus for the Safer Travel Partnership which polices the public transport network in the West Midlands."
The police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to address this concerning act of anti-social behaviour in the city centre.
