Machete-Wielding Carjackers Target Man at Burton-on-Trent Tesco Car Park

Staffordshire Police have reported a terrifying carjacking incident where a man was threatened with a machete at a Tesco car park in Burton-on-Trent. The victim was sitting in the driver's seat of a grey Vauxhall Astra when he was approached by two men who asked for a lift to Anglesey Road.

Details of the Terrifying Ordeal

The suspects entered the car and stated they had a knife, forcing the victim to drive them to various locations in the area. After being directed to Uxbridge Street and Anglesey Park car park, they returned to the rear of the Tesco car park near the Washlands.

Once there, the victim was made to get out of the car, but the suspects became spooked after spotting a dog walker nearby. They ordered him back into the vehicle and drove to Anglesey Park, where one suspect pulled out a machete and demanded the car keys.

Police Investigation and Appeal

The victim handed over the keys and ran off, while the suspects drove away in his car. Staffordshire Police later found the vehicle abandoned on Clays Lane, with two people seen fleeing the scene. The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 PM on Sunday, February 23.

Officers from the criminal investigations department (CID) have launched an investigation and are appealing for information. Both suspects are described as Asian men wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.
