Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Norwich city centre on Saturday morning.

Emergency Response and Arrest

Emergency services rushed to Somerleyton Street shortly after 5am on Saturday, November 22, following reports that a man had been stabbed.

Officers from Norfolk Police confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Scene Investigation and Resident Displacement

The police cordon was established around Somerleyton House, a building known to provide accommodation for both students and working professionals.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities made the decision to temporarily relocate a number of people from their homes in the affected area.

Police Appeal for Information

Superintendent Sonia Humphreys addressed public concerns, stating: “We know this is upsetting and may cause concern in the community.”

She confirmed that a police cordon would remain in place for the coming days as officers work to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
