Man Charged After Armed Police End M5 Slip Road Chase

A man has been charged after a police pursuit concluded with armed officers stopping a vehicle on an M5 slip road. The incident, which involved a suspected stolen car, took place in Oldbury, West Midlands.

Charges Filed

Joshua Jones, aged 23 and from Oldbury, faces multiple charges including possession of a knife, criminal damage, dangerous driving, and aggravated vehicle taking. West Midlands Police confirmed the charges on Tuesday, May 26.

Court Appearance

Jones was scheduled to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on the same day. Police stated that officers pursued the suspected stolen vehicle towards junction 2 of the M5 on Sunday morning.

Armed officers successfully stopped the car on the slip road. During a subsequent search, a knife was recovered from the vehicle. No injuries were reported during the incident.

West Midlands Police released a statement saying: "A man has been charged after we pursued a suspected stolen vehicle in Oldbury. Joshua Jones, aged 23 from Oldbury has been charged with several offences which include possession of a knife, criminal damage, dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking."

The force added that the vehicle was stopped by firearms officers on the slip road, and a knife was discovered during the search.
