Double Murder Charges Following Wolverhampton Shooting
A 38-year-old man has been formally charged with the murders of two men who died following a shooting in Wolverhampton earlier this year.
Mohammed Maneer Khan is accused of killing Duaine Mills, 28, and Syed Zain Ali, 32, after an incident on Leicester Street at approximately 3.10am on September 19.
Khan was arrested yesterday and has now been charged with two counts of murder. In addition to the murder charges, he faces one count of attempted murder, two separate firearms offences, and a charge of fraud by false representation.
Second Man Charged with Assisting Offender
West Midlands Police have also charged a second individual in connection with the case. Yaseen Patel, 34, from Birmingham, stands accused of assisting an offender.
Both men are scheduled to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court today (Friday, November 21) to face these serious allegations.
Police Investigation and Appeal for Information
Senior Investigating Officer Jenny Birch of West Midlands Police stated that these charges mark a significant development in the ongoing investigation.
'These charges represent another significant step forward in our investigation,' she said. 'As has been the case throughout, our thoughts remain with the families of Duaine and Syed, they are being kept updated and supported by specialist officers.'
The police force continues to actively appeal to the public for assistance. An online portal remains available for anyone with information or footage related to the incident to come forward.
Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge about the murders to contact them on 101, quoting log number 358 of 19 September.
