Officers were called to the large retail complex at approximately 6:30 PM after security personnel reported observing a man attempting to steal a smart watch. During the incident, it is alleged that the individual also caused damage to a display stand within the store.

Suspect Charged and Court Appearance Scheduled

The accused has been identified as James Maughan, a 33-year-old resident of Wolverhampton. He has been charged with theft from a shop and criminal damage where the value is under £5,000.

Following his arrest, Maughan was granted bail with specific conditions. He is scheduled to appear before Dudley Magistrates Court on March 17, 2026, to answer to the charges brought against him.

In an official statement, West Midlands Police confirmed the charges, stating: "We have charged a man with shop theft after a watch was stolen from a shopping centre in Dudley. James Maughan, of Wolverhampton, has been charged with theft from a shop and criminal damage under £5,000."
