Two men have been charged in connection with a shooting in Willenhall that left a young man fighting for his life. The victim, aged in his 20s, was discovered with life-threatening injuries on Wordsworth Road on the evening of 23 December.
Charges Laid and Court Appearance
In an update issued on 31 December, West Midlands Police confirmed the charges. Lee Hayes, aged 50, of Willenhall, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and wounding with intent.
Shane Allsop, aged 28, of Wolverhampton, is accused of perjury by making a false statement. Both men were remanded in custody and appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on the morning of New Year's Eve.
Ongoing Investigation and Victim's Condition
More than a week after the violent incident, the injured man remains in hospital. Police describe his condition as critical but stable. The investigation continues to unfold.
A 61-year-old woman, arrested earlier on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
