A 70-year-old man is recovering from a terrifying ordeal after being ambushed and beaten by a gang of thugs in a vicious street robbery that has shocked the local community.

The pensioner was walking near his home when he was suddenly surrounded by a group of young men who demanded his possessions. When he hesitated, the situation turned violent.
"They just came out of nowhere," the victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, described through his family. "One minute I was walking home, the next I was on the ground being kicked and punched."
