Detectives investigating the murder of a young father in North Lanarkshire have issued a renewed plea for information on what would have been his 27th birthday.
A Loving Father Found Dead
Jordan Gray, aged 26, was discovered deceased in a flat on Shields Court in Motherwell on Sunday, December 15. He had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. His devastated family have paid tribute to him, describing Jordan as a "loving and doting father and son".
Detective Superintendent Grant Hendry, of Police Scotland's major investigations team, stated that officers remain focused on securing answers for Mr Gray's grieving family. He acknowledged that Saturday, December 27 – Jordan's birthday – was an "extremely difficult" day for them, with specialist officers providing support.
Vital Witness Sought in Dark Clothing
As part of their ongoing inquiry, police are urgently trying to trace a person seen on Shields Court at approximately 10.35pm on Sunday, December 14 – the night before Mr Gray's body was found.
The individual was wearing a dark jacket with the hood up and dark trousers. Investigators believe this person could hold vital information and are appealing directly to them or anyone who can identify them to come forward.
"Identifying this person seen on Shields Court is vital to our investigation," said Det Supt Hendry. "If you believe this may have been you seen wearing the dark clothing, come forward to allow us to eliminate you from our inquiries."
Appeal to the Local Community's Compassion
While forensic and CCTV investigations continue, police are making a direct appeal to the Motherwell community. Det Supt Hendry emphasised that knowledge of who is responsible may exist locally.
"We are focused on getting answers for Jordan’s family and tracing who is responsible for his death," he said. "I would like to appeal directly to the compassion of the community. Please, if you have any information on who is responsible for Jordan’s death, come forward and report it to us."
He thanked those who have already provided information and sought to reassure the public, confirming an increased police presence would remain in the area. Anyone with concerns or information is encouraged to speak to officers.
