Police release CCTV after woman hit by bike in Tyseley

West Midlands Police have released grainy CCTV footage in a bid to trace a cyclist who fled after seriously injuring a woman in Tyseley. The incident occurred on Arden Road at around 6pm on January 21, when the victim was struck while standing on the pavement.

The woman, who sustained a fractured skull and a broken elbow, was discovered lying on the kerbside by a passer-by who immediately alerted emergency services. She was taken to hospital and continues to recover from her injuries.

Police acknowledged that the CCTV image is unclear but hope it may prompt someone to come forward with information. The rider failed to stop at the scene.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "We’re appealing for information after a pedestrian was hit by a bike in Birmingham back in January. The incident took place on January 21 on Arden Road, Tyseley at around 6pm. A woman was standing on the pavement when she was hit by a bike. She was taken to hospital with a skull fracture and a broken elbow and continues to recover from her injuries.

"The rider failed to stop. Fortunately, a member of the public who found the woman called for help. We appreciate the CCTV footage isn’t great, but we’re hoping it might jog someone’s memory. We’re appealing to anyone who might have been in the area between 6pm and 6.30pm to get in touch."
