A 17-year-old boy from Stafford has been charged with serious terrorism-related offences, including the possession of explosive substances.

Charges and Investigation

The teenager was detained following an investigation by Staffordshire Police. He faces one charge of possession of explosive substances, contrary to section 4(1) of the Explosive Substances Act 1883.

In addition, he has been charged with two counts of viewing or accessing information via the internet that is likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism. These charges fall under section 58(1)(c) of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Court Appearance and Custody

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 27.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police confirmed the charges and the boy's current remand status, stating the court appearance is imminent.
