Stolen 4x4 crashes into house in Castle Vale

Dramatic Crash on Castle Vale Street

A suspected stolen 4x4 vehicle crashed into a house opposite a major Jaguar Land Rover factory in Birmingham on Thursday evening. The dramatic incident occurred at around 7.15pm on November 6 on Bader Walk, close to Chester Road in the Castle Vale area.

Scene of Destruction

Pictures from the scene showed the substantial damage caused by the impact. The back of the 4x4 was wedged into the end-of-terrace home, completely destroying its porch. The force of the collision was such that the property's front door appeared to be propped up by the vehicle itself.

According to West Midlands Fire Service, the vehicle had been involved in a collision on the nearby Chester Road prior to slamming into the house. When emergency services arrived, the driver and other occupants had already fled the scene.

Emergency Response and Aftermath

A multi-agency response was launched following the crash.

  • West Midlands Ambulance Service attended and assessed one patient, a woman from the house, who was subsequently discharged at the scene.
  • Firefighters from Ward End, Sheldon, and the Technical Rescue Unit devised a plan to safely winch the vehicle away from the property and shore up the damaged porch.
  • Utility engineers, a structural engineer from the council, and a housing association representative also attended to assess the damage.

The last fire crews did not leave the scene until around 11pm. The following day, debris remained at the site, with a barrier erected outside the destroyed porch and a wheel abandoned on the grass.

West Midlands Police confirmed that no arrests had been made and their inquiries are ongoing. They are urging anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting log number 4886 of November 6. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
