Two men and a 15-year-old boy have been charged after a teenager was stabbed during what police have described as 'disorder' in Birmingham city centre. The incident occurred near The Bull statue outside the Bullring on Thursday evening, November 13.
The victim, a 17-year-old boy, sustained injuries that required hospital treatment. West Midlands Police confirmed his injuries were neither life-threatening nor life-changing.
Charges and Court Appearances
Following CCTV reviews and witness enquiries, police made five arrests. Three individuals now face serious charges.
Mussa Gul, aged 18, Zain Hussain, also 18, and a 15-year-old boy have each been charged with wounding with intent, affray, and possession of a bladed article. Due to legal restrictions, the 15-year-old cannot be named.
All three have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday, November 17.
Meanwhile, two other men, aged 18 and 22, who were also arrested have been released on bail with strict conditions imposed by the court.
Police Response and Community Reassurance
In response to the incident, which has raised concerns among residents and visitors, West Midlands Police has announced increased patrols in the city centre.
A police spokesperson addressed public concern, stating: "We understand why these incidents have caused concern for visitors to the city - and people that live and work here."
High-visibility patrols have been stepped up around key locations, including areas popular with Christmas market visitors, shoppers, and workers. The force emphasised its commitment to ensuring Birmingham remains a safe and welcoming destination, with the increased police presence continuing around the clock.
