Tragic Discovery at Bridlington Holiday Park Leads to Arrests
Two men have been arrested following the tragic deaths of two teenagers at a holiday park in Bridlington. The victims have been identified as Ethan Slater, aged 17, and Cherish Bean, aged 15, both from Sheffield.
They were discovered deceased inside a rental property at Little Eden Holiday Park on Wednesday, February 18. Police were alerted after receiving a call expressing concern for their safety earlier that morning.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Humberside Police have launched a complex investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. While the deaths are currently being treated as unexplained, authorities are actively exploring the possibility that they may be connected to carbon monoxide poisoning.
A 33-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, February 19, on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. Police have been granted an extension to detain him for a further 12 hours.
A second man, aged 42, has also been arrested on the same suspicion and remains in police custody. The investigation involves multiple lines of enquiry and coordination with various agencies.
Official Statements and Community Response
Northbank Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Matt Peach, expressed the force's condolences, stating: "Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of both teenagers, who have been named by their families as 15-year-old Cherish Bean, and 17-year-old Ethan Slater, who tragically lost their lives."
He emphasized that specialist trained officers are providing support to the families during this distressing time and urged the public to refrain from speculation to respect their privacy.
The police are working in coordination with the Health and Safety Executive, Humberside Fire & Rescue, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council. A cordon remains in place at the holiday park as the investigation continues.
Heartbreaking Tributes and Fundraiser
In the wake of this tragedy, a fundraiser has been established by Ethan's parents to give him the "best possible send off" that "truly celebrates who he was." The campaign has already raised more than £16,000.
The fundraising page reads: "It is with unimaginable heartbreak that I write this. Our son Ethan tragically and unexpectedly passed away at just 17 years old, alongside his beautiful girlfriend."
It continues: "No parent should ever have to write these words. No family should ever have to face this pain. Ethan had his whole life ahead of him. He'll never get to pass his driving test. He'll never celebrate his 18th birthday."
The message concludes with a poignant reflection on lost potential: "He'll never reach the milestones we all assumed were waiting for him. He was just beginning his journey into adulthood, full of plans, laughter, and a future that was taken far too soon."
The families aim to honor Ethan in a manner that reflects his character and ensures he is laid to rest with the dignity he deserves.
