Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in Willenhall that left a young man fighting for his life.
Victim Rushed to Hospital with Life-Threatening Injuries
The incident occurred on Wordsworth Road in Willenhall at approximately 7.30pm on Tuesday, December 23. Emergency services, alerted by ambulance colleagues, found a man in his 20s with a suspected gunshot wound.
Paramedics provided advanced trauma care at the scene before the victim was taken to hospital. His injuries are described as life-threatening.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrests
West Midlands Police conducted what they termed 'quick-time enquiries', leading to the detention of two suspects. The men, aged 50 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Both suspects remain in police custody today, Wednesday, December 24, as investigations continue. The scene on Wordsworth Road remains cordoned off with officers present.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Reassurance
Detectives are carrying out extensive enquiries, including door-to-door visits and the retrieval and review of CCTV footage from the area to establish the full circumstances of the attack.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police acknowledged the concern such an incident causes. "We have stepped up patrols to offer reassurance to local people," they stated.
