Tragic Death in Birmingham City Centre
A 34-year-old woman has tragically lost her life after a stabbing incident in the heart of Birmingham.
The fatal attack occurred on Smallbrook Queensway at approximately 9pm on Friday, November 7.
The victim was rushed to hospital with a serious neck injury but, despite medical efforts, she died from her injuries.
Police Investigation and Court Proceedings
West Midlands Police confirmed that Djeison Rafael, 21, was previously charged with attempted murder following the incident.
The accused was remanded into custody and appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
Following the victim's death, police stated they will apply to amend the charge to reflect the change in circumstances.
Appeal for Witnesses and Community Reassurance
Police have described the clothing they believe Rafael was wearing at the time of the incident:
- An all-grey tracksuit
- Black hat
- Trainers
- Rucksack
Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Extra police officers have been deployed in Birmingham city centre to offer reassurance to the public following what police describe as a worrying incident.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson expressed that their thoughts are with her loved ones and that specially trained officers are supporting the family.
